"Custard" is the 1st episode of the 2nd season of 1981 cartoon series Danger Mouse, the twelfth episode overall and it's the first episode to use the 'TO BE CONTINUED' title. It was broadcasted in 5-parts on ITV in 4th to 8th of January 1982, and the full single episode version in 12 November 1985.

Plot[]

The world is covered in custard because of Baron Greenback. Danger Mouse and Penfold travel to Glut to fix the mess.

Synopsis[]

DM S02E01

The world is swimming in custard after Greenback booby traps every tin of it to explode. Danger Mouse decides to seek out the only being in the universe that can help: the Custard Mite of Glut.

Arriving on Glut in the Spacehopper, DM and Penfold are captured by the inhabitants of Glut. Incorrectly assuming the visitors want to steal their custard, the Glutians imprison DM and Penfold in a dungeon which is rapidly filling up with custard… Until it is gobbled up by a Custard Mite! When DM explains the situation, The mite frees him and Penfold, and agrees to join them in flying to Earth.

Trivia[]

  • Danger Mouse shooting the green aliens in the Spacehopper while also being attacked by the glutians in space, is a reference to the game Space Invaders released by Taito in 1978. The shooting sound is also a sound effect used from the actual game.
